The value of Creating Pride is best expressed by those who have benefited directly from its mission.

A teacher takes what she learned in an ArtsNOW workshop back to her school and a classroom of 1st graders wins big!

First grade class meets myriad of Georgia Performance Standard by drawing pictures

The art specialist from an elementary school attended the first of 3 days of ArtsNOW workshops designed to build her capacity as a leader. She then returned to her school, held a full faculty hands-on workshop at her own school that was a direct replication of the "Teaching Creatively" workshop she experienced with the Creating Pride team. In this "Painting to Read" workshop, participants had painted their dream escape, sequenced the paintings, wrote a story as a group and then presented the stories to other teachers.

A first grade teacher in her school then took the same hands-on activity into her own classroom when she was teaching the general reading curriculum. She asked the students to draw pictures about whatever they want to, and then asked a group of students to work together to write a story and present it to the class. The result exceeded her expectations and she says students learned more than she would ever have anticipated with this creative exercise!
